Ball valves’ features for fuels:
Fire safe protection (EN ISO 10497)
The fire protection comprises a set of special solutions of sealing elements based on metal and graphite materials, which during a fire of the installation allow maintaining the tightness of the valve according to the relevant standards. An outline of the solution is presented in the drawing.
The fire safe protection is an option made at the special request of the customer.
Antistatic protection (EN 1983; API Spec. 6D)
The metal connection of the ball and the body ensures the continuous electrical conductivity preventing the dangerous accumulation of electrostatic charges on the ball.
Sealing of the stem
The sealing of the stems used in the valves depends on the operating temperatures of the valve and the working medium, for which the given valve is dedicated.
Front sealing is provided by a seal-washer made from PTFE + C, while the sealing on the stem’s diameter is made depending on the operating temperature, i.e.:
– for temp. ≤ 150°C – sealing provided by o-rings or o-rings and PTFE;
– for temp. >150°C – sealing from PTFE;
In respect of the valves with fire safe protection the stem has additional sealing made from a graphite ring.
Compensating ball valves with floating ball
The sealing of the ball in the compensation ball valves with the floating ball is provided by two seals, where one of them is mounted permanently in the body and the other mounted in movable housing supported by coil springs.
When the pressure is fed from the side of a seal mounted in the movable housing, both seals serve the sealing role. The tightness of the valve under low pressure is guaranteed by the springs. The increase of the pressure is accompanied by assurance of the tightness in respect of the pressure induced forces.
When the pressure is fed from the side of a seal mounted permanently in the body of the valve, the tightness under low pressure is ensured by two seals. The increase of the pressure is accompanied by the movement of the ball and then the tightness is maintained thanks to the seal mounted in the movable housing.
The construction of the compensation ball valve with a floating ball does not allow for excessive increase of pressure in the space between the body and the ball, when working with liquid medium completely eliminating the impact of stresses caused by temperature changes.
Compensating ball valves with trunnion mounted ball
In the compensation ball valves with the trunnion mounted ball, the sealing of the ball is provided by two seals mounted in sliding housings supported by coil springs. The tightening force of the seal at the inlet is ensured by the pressure of the medium and the force of the coil springs.
The construction of the compensation ball valve with a trunnion mounted ball does not allow for excessive increase of pressure in the space between the body and the ball, when working with liquid medium completely eliminating the impact of stresses caused by temperature changes.
